a variety of resources available to obtain Medicare information. First,
and foremost, is the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)
web site, www.cms.hhs.gov. CMS
is part of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and is
the government agency that, among other things, administers the Medicare
Program. CMS also has an additional site specific for people with
Medicare. This site can be located at www.medicare.gov.
You can also call 1-800-Medicare (1-800-633-4227).
Another
valuable resource for Medicare information is your Medicare Fiscal
Intermediary and Carrier. Their customer service numbers can be found
on your Medicare Summary Notice, (MSN), or a listing of such contractors
for your area can be found on CMS' web site, or in your Medicare Handbook.
