There are a variety of resources available to obtain Medicare information. First, and foremost, is the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) web site, www.cms.hhs.gov. CMS is part of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and is the government agency that, among other things, administers the Medicare Program. CMS also has an additional site specific for people with Medicare. This site can be located at www.medicare.gov. You can also call 1-800-Medicare (1-800-633-4227).

Another valuable resource for Medicare information is your Medicare Fiscal Intermediary and Carrier. Their customer service numbers can be found on your Medicare Summary Notice, (MSN), or a listing of such contractors for your area can be found on CMS' web site, or in your Medicare Handbook.
